Uncleby Barn began life as a school at the end of the eighteenth-century to teach the poor children of “Hunckleby”. Later it began to be used as a place of worship as well and in 1861 it was officially registered as Uncleby Chapel. For a little over 100 years Uncleby Chapel was the centre of life in the hamlet until it finally closed as a place of worship in 1974.
In 2013, working closely with local farmers, Natural England and East Riding of Yorkshire Council Halifax Estates renovated the former Methodist Chapel and schoolroom into an outstanding educational facility and events venue surrounded by beautiful countryside, located 15 miles east of York and 7 miles north of Pocklington, close to Garrowby Hill.
Uncleby Barn’s incredible setting with views over the Vale of York is the perfect setting for any event.
The main room can comfortably seat around 60 people. There is a fully equipped kitchen to cater for your party. The west facing terrace has spectacular views over the Vale of York. The central courtyard can be used to erect a marquee to extend the capacity of the venue.
Standard trestle tables and chairs are provided within the booking fee. There is an integrated audio system within the venue. Free wifi is available to all users.
Uncleby Barn is perfect for any event. The venue has been host to weddings and christenings all the way through to corporate and charity events.
